On July 25, 2019, the Children’s Rights Ombudsperson, Maia Banarescu attended the event organized by UNICEF in Molovata village, Dubasari district where the open water swimmer Ion Lazarenco-Tiron swam 30 km on Nistru river for promoting the message of peace and children’s rights.
The Children’s Rights Ombudsperson appreciated the UNICEF initiative and the noble action of Ion Lazarenco emphasizing the fact that establishment of a friendly environment for the children for their good development, an environment without violence, abuse and negligence constitutes the obligation of every adult. Maia Banarescu also mentioned about the importance of the call on promoting peace, tolerance and inclusion transmitted in a unique manner by Ion Lazarenco.
The Children’s Rights Ombudsperson also addressed to children and exhorted them to have the courage to speak about their rights and the problems they face so that their voice to be heard as many times as needed.
Maia Banarescu expressed her conviction that by this event it was transmitted a strong message in supporting the observance of children’s rights, their growing up and education with love, care and respect.
