Dear children!

I congratulate you with the occasion of the International Children’s Day and I also congratulate the pupils –with the end of the school year and the beginning of the summer holidays.

I wish you all a happy and serene childhood, to enjoy the warmth and love of parents and the people you love and the attention you need from the adults.

In my capacity of the Children’s Rights Ombudsperson I will stay on about you enjoying your childhood without gaps, worries and to be heard and respected.

The International Children’s Day has special significances in 2019, because it is the year when we celebrate the 30th anniversary of UN Convention on the rights of the child – document of crucial importance for the promotion and protection of the rights of the child. The Republic of Moldova makes part of this Convention, but it still has arrears in implementing its provisions.

I previously mentioned several times the deficiencies related to the respect of the right of the child to a name, family, inclusion of disabled children in society; ensuring social protection of children, especially those from the families with low incomes. I paid and further pay attention to the issues on respect of the right of the children to life, considering the fact that due to different reasons they become the victims as the result of irresponsibility/ indifference of parents or legal representatives. I dealt with the issues on respect of the rights of child to education and health, issue of violence at school and those related to respect of the rights of minors who are into the custody.

I ensure you that I will continue to plead firmly for the respect of your rights and I will be near you when my intervention will be necessary.

I advise you to be active and involve in the activities organized by the educational institutions, local communities you come from and why not those which are organized by the Children’s Rights Ombudsperson (http://ombudsman.md/avocatul-copilului/pagina-copilului/ombudsmanul-copiilor/) on the official webpage of the People’s Advocate in order to find out about the organized and planned events.

And on June 01, we wait you in the Public Garden „Stefan cel Mare” to our traditional tombola ”You’re your rights!”

June 2019
