Day of June 26, proclaimed by UN General Assembly as the International Day in support the torture victims reminds the firm engagement in condemning the torture acts, identification and punishment of torturers as well as agreeing and giving indemnities to victims of absolutely prohibited practices. People’s Advocate annually launches with the occasion of the International Day in support the torture victims, different activities for raising public awareness.
For the campaign of June 2019 People’s Advocate using the same occasion proposed to realize the following activities:

1) June 20-27: Online campaign „#EuNUAplic1661– #EuRespectDemnitateaUmană”. This activity will be realized in partnership with the National Administration of Penitentiaries and General Police Inspectorate and it has as an objective of promoting zero tolerance toward the torture actions by the persons of the professional risk group; 

2) June 21: Public presentation of Special Report of Ombudsman „Situation of apprehended persons who are into the police custody”. This report was elaborated with the financial support of the Justice and Human Rights Department of Soros – Moldova Foundation within the project „Management of apprehension and detention in the Police Inspectorates of the Republic of Moldova” implemented by the Peoples Advocate Office according to the grant contract G14856 of April 02, 2018. This report was elaborated by the national experts: Mihaela VIDAICU and Elena CROITOR, PhD in criminal law and criminal procedure law. This report consists of scientific – empirical findings about the procedural apprehension phenomenon, detention, escort, etc. this event will take place at the Academy of Science of Moldova, 10.00 – 13.00 o’clock; 

3) On June 26, 2019, 10.00 A.M. in the conference room of the General Police Inspectorate, the People’s Advocate Office will transmit free of charge, 30 informative billboards with the title „Torture prevention” for being placed in the territorial subdivisions of police which have custody on remand isolators. These billboards consist of information on Ombudsman mandate in preventing torture specific for Law no. 52/2014 on People’s Advocate (Ombudsman);

4) June, July 2019- People’s Advocate Office will transmit free of charge 6 informative billboards with the title „Torture prevention” to Temporary Placement Centers for People with Disabilities. These billboards consist of information on Ombudsman mandate in preventing torture specific for Law no. 52/2014 on People’s Advocate (Ombudsman);

5) Participation to public events of the representatives of People’s Advocate Office and Committee for the prevention of torture.
