On June 01, the Children’s Rights Ombudsperson, Maia Banarescu together with other representatives of public institutions and children who were in the Public Garden “Ștefan cel Mare” of Chisinau mun., celebrated the International Children’s Day.
Traditionally, the Children’s Rights Ombudsperson organized a tombola dedicated to children and it had the title “Know your rights” intended for promoting children’s rights and informing them about the rights and responsibilities they have.
Children of different ages participated to the tombola, they being involved in interactive discussions based on human rights and freedoms subject, promotion of a conscientious behaviour, mutual respect and equality between peers.
Maia Banarescu had a congratulation message for the children present at this event and she ensured them that she will continue to stay up about their rights observance and the opinions and suggestions of children to be heard and respected.
The celebration of the children’s day was for the first time proposed in 1925, in Geneva during the world conference on children’s welfare and on December 14, 1954 the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution no. 836 for proclaiming the International Children’s Day.
