The questionnaire included five questions related to the baccalaureate exam of 12th grade graduates: the effectiveness of online training for the exam; inclusion or non-inclusion in the content of the examination of the topics studied during the period of emergency; the request to select several versions of answer regarding the way of appreciation of the knowledge when graduating the educational institution the high school cycle; requesting an opinion on the admission method to higher education institutions; requesting a description of the problems they encountered during the online education period.
Of the 1452 high school pupils who participated in the online survey, 1282 or over 88% consider that online training for baccalaureate was inefficient. Over 93 % of the respondents believe that the topics studied until March 10, should be included in the baccalaureate test. 75,6% of the high school pupils questioned for the cancellation of the baccalaureate exam, another 19% of the participants in the questionnaire, agree that the baccalaureate exam should be postponed. A smaller number of high school pupils decided to assess the knowledge for the baccalaureate diploma based on the average marks obtained during 10-12th grades, or to take the baccalaureate online or by ensuring all the conditions of protection against the new type of Coronavirus.
Most of the respondents consider that the admission to 2020 in the universities of the Republic of Moldova must take place based on the average of the grades obtained in 10-12th grades. There are opinions regarding the opportunity of issuing a certificate equivalent to the baccalaureate diploma, attesting the knowledge held and on the basis of which admission to higher education institutions will be carried out. Most participants view the admission of 2020 very difficult, and that there are many impediments for the current graduates.
The survey participants considered the online education to be ineffective due to: technical deficiencies, poor connection in the conditions of overload on online platforms; “The inability of teachers to use digital devices and communication platforms effectively”, but also due to some pupils; “lack of school environment involving responsibility and organization”, lack of computers or other devices needed for online education. “Most of the time, the actual duration of the lessons is short, because a lot of attention is dedicated to technical issues.” The high school pupils also invoked the limited time for the preparation for baccalaureate exam, given the requirements to prepare for other subjects, “fatigue caused by the lessons schedule that is not similar to the school schedule, that may exceed the preset hours”. The high school pupils also noted that “teachers tried to adapt on the go, without clear instructions from the high school administration, and as a result the pupils are experimenting with different teaching techniques”, that “teachers do not teach the lesson, but only send the homework.” The pupils also noted that they were not motivated to perform all the tasks correctly and in due time, given that they did not receive grades for the homework.
The questionnaire was anonymous and aimed to consult the children’s opinion on the issue of baccalaureate and online training in the event of a pandemic. The questionnaire took place between April 6-13, 2020. The results of the Questionnaire can be seen here:

On the results of the respective form, the People’s Advocate for the Children’s Rights, Maia Banarescu, will submit recommendations to the Minister of Education, Culture and Research.
